Project Alchemy: a world made of possibilities
Materials, experimentation and first-person adventure in the fantasy world of Atror.
Read the storyAbout the project
OASIS: Project Alchemy is a first-person fantasy ActionRPG set in Atror. You begin as a young, inexperienced alchemist, discovering a world where understanding what things are made of can be as important as knowing how to fight.
Exploration, action role-playing and dungeon crawling sit alongside crafting and transformation. Alchemy connects these parts of the adventure: what you discover in the world can change what you understand about its materials.
Atror is conceived as a composition of connected parts. Objects are made from other objects, opening up ways to take things apart, recover what they contain and assemble something new. Crafting grows from understanding those relationships.
The aim is to make curiosity useful. A discovered object is more than its outward form: its composition can become the beginning of another experiment, another creation or another way to approach the world around you.
Alchemy draws on both real and fictional reactions between chemical elements. Learning how materials interact, trying combinations and discovering useful results form a central part of the experience we are developing.
You enter that experience as a beginner. The appeal is in learning to recognise possibilities: observing what you find, thinking about what can be combined, and connecting those discoveries with crafting and adventure.
Dungeon exploration and action bring danger into the journey. Crafting and alchemy add another layer of attention to it. We are developing a fantasy role-playing experience in which exploration, danger and experimentation give one another purpose.
The project is in development for PC. Public demonstrations and release information will be shared as they are ready.
Project Alchemy is also one of the games where we use and refine UCSystem, bringing the practical needs of a game back into our tool development.
The central idea connects what the alchemist finds with what he can make. Objects in Atror are composed of other objects: taking something apart reveals components, while assembly turns components into something else. Exploration and crafting belong to the same journey, rather than separate lists of activities.
Alchemy adds another way to understand those discoveries. Reactions draw on both real and invented chemical elements and interactions, giving the fantasy world its own possibilities. The aim is to make experimentation part of playing an alchemist, with knowledge of materials becoming useful beyond the workbench.
The protagonist begins as a young, inexperienced alchemist. First-person exploration keeps the experience close to the character, while ActionRPG combat and dungeon-crawling elements bring danger and discovery into the same adventure.
We are developing the relationship between these parts of the game: exploring Atror, understanding what is found there and using that understanding through crafting and alchemy. Public materials will explain individual systems in more detail as they become ready to demonstrate.

Project Alchemy takes place in Atror, an original fantasy setting with its own geography, cultures and history. You enter it as a young, beginning alchemist, learning about the world from a first-person perspective.
Forests, lowlands and mountain regions form the landscape around settlements and the routes between them. Atror’s cultures and magical traditions provide the background to the young alchemist’s adventure, connecting the places you discover with the world they belong to.
Objects are built from other objects. Taking something apart can reveal the components within it; assembling things brings those relationships into the crafting experience.
This gives composition a role in how you look at the world. An object’s outward form is one part of its meaning, while the materials and pieces it contains may suggest something else that can be made. Crafting and exploration are developed as connected activities.
Alchemy combines interactions inspired by real chemistry with fictional reactions that belong to the fantasy setting. The design centres on understanding how elements and materials behave together.
Observation, combinations and the results of experiments give the young alchemist a way to learn. The appeal lies in finding connections and making something useful from that understanding, alongside the broader crafting and role-playing adventure.
First-person action, exploration and dungeon-crawling elements place alchemy within a wider RPG journey. The character has to engage with the world beyond the work of crafting.
Movement and looking around are being developed as parts of an embodied first-person experience. The project brings attention to nearby objects and materials together with the danger and discovery of a fantasy adventure. Public demonstrations will show the developing experience as materials become ready to share.
