OASIS: The Ruler starts with a life that seems to have reached a dead end. A baron’s overlooked son is sent to a tiny village on the edge of the Von Dustin barony. A few homes and a handful of inhabitants are all he has to begin with.

An heir without a ready-made advantage

The opening does not place a trained ruler in an established city. The baron’s son has little preparation for his new responsibility, and the village offers little comfort in return: a couple of streets, a few homes and roughly ten residents. Its position at the edge of the Von Dustin barony is part of the problem he has inherited.

This is the contrast behind the story. A person considered unpromising is sent somewhere considered unimportant. What happens next depends on the player’s actions, from surviving an early encounter to giving the settlement a more secure future.

The village is part of the adventure

Bandits and monsters make protection a practical concern. Exploration and dungeon-crawling elements extend the character’s life beyond the village itself. These are parts of the first-person ActionRPG experience in which the settlement’s future has a personal stake.

Developing a prosperous city is the larger ambition, but the game begins well before that scale. The initial few homes matter because they give that ambition a starting point. Survival, protection and development connect the protagonist’s immediate problems with the place he has been put in charge of.

Planning without leaving the role behind

The TopDown construction view provides a way to consider buildings, object placement and improvements together. It complements the character’s first-person perspective: one view concerns moving through the world, while the other concerns how the settlement takes shape.

That combination is why we describe The Ruler as an ActionRPG with strategy elements. Construction and settlement development support the central role-playing experience. The project is being developed for PC; further public updates will focus on the systems and materials we can demonstrate.
